13-14 • 2013 Portuguese Celebration and Parade:: 88th Annual Portuguese Celebration will assemble to celebrate an over 700 year-old tradition brought from the Azores by pioneering Portuguese families. This weekend celebration will take place at the Veterans Memorial Building at the foot of the pier in Cayucos, CA.
The festivities will begin Saturday the 14th at 6pm with Linguica Sandwiches ($5 until sold out). Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 6:30pm. Dancing by Lightning & Whispers (Traditional Portuguese Folk Dance and American music) from 7:00 to 11:00pm, with Grand March showcasing the queens at 8:00pm. All of these events are open to the public.
Sunday the 15th will commence at the Veterans Building with the parade of Queens and their courts, from all over California at 10:30am. The parade will march to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for 11:00am mass where the coronation Senior and Junior Queen will take place. These 2012 queens will lead the parade back to the Veterans Building where there will be a BBQ from 11:30am to 2:00pm. The BBQ is $15 a plate (Top block and all the trimmings). The auction will begin at 2:00pm with the raffle drawing following the auction. »view flyer

On Saturday and Sunday, July 14th & 15th at 9:00 am to 5:00 pm many artists and craftspeople from all over California will be presenting their wares at the Cambria Veterans' Building parking lot. Admission is free and there will be a pancake breakfast available both days from 8:00 am until 11:00 am at the adjoining American Legion club house. Come join us for a wonderful and interesting day in downtown Cambria!
