1 • Hike Morro Bay :: At 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, hikers will gather at Morro Rock for 1st Hike Morro Bay. The first event of Morro Bay’s Landmark & Legacy year, this easy walk along a section of the California Coastal Trail is being held in conjunction with the California State Parks 150th anniversary celebration.
The free, family-friendly walk, led by State Parks docents, will head north along the beach during one of the lowest tides of the year. Hikers can gaze out across the blue Pacific, soak in the sights and sounds of the crashing surf and observe the wide variety of birds and sea creatures that make the Central Coast their winter home. TBA • Tall Ships Arrive :: Looking for a little high-seas adventure? Then steer toward Morro Bay for the highly anticipated return visit of the majestic tall-ship Lady Washington as well as the topsail ketch Hawaiian Chieftain. During their stay, the Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain will be offering walk-on tours and two options for sailing excursions. Crewin 18th century costumes will welcome visitor’s dockside for ship handling demonstrations, sea shanty singing and story telling. Each day at 11:00 am the entertainment kicks off on three different stages and continues non-stop until 7:00 pm. The stages will be filled with dance and music from more than 30 different acts. The entertainment will include vocalists and bands, performance and instruction, incorporating the wide cultural influences that the French have had including French Polynesia, African, Cajun and so much more. 1-25 • Cambria Scarecrow and Harvest Festival :: Over one hundred scarecrows will line Cambria streets delighting young and old throughout the month of October. The town will celebrate the scarecrows and the harvest Oct 8 & 9 with live music, good local BBQ, arts and crafts at the Cambria Historical Museum. Admission is free. 805-927-2891.

15-16 • 15th Annual Autumn Gem and Mineral Show :: Sat: 9am-5pm, Sun:10am-5pm, Cayucos Vet's Hall, at the foot of the pier. Featuring dealers selling gems, minerals, fossils, carvings, jewelry, beads, jade, crystals, meteorites, lapidary and metaphysical items. Jewelry-making demonstration. Free parking, free admission, and free door prizes. Free drawing at the end of the show on Sunday. Incredibly-tasting Santa Maria-style barbecue outside on the patio in back.
16 • Antiques Street Faire :: Two blocks of Ocean Avenue in downtown Cayucos becomes a pedestrian zone while browsers and shoppers can checkout the many goods being offered by local and visiting vendors. Food is also on the menu, be it from a Cayucos eatery or one of our visiting vendors.7am-4pm.
